About us
Cavan-Monaghan Rural Development Co-operative is a community based NGO(non government organisation) established in 1991 by the coming together of local rural development actors from the two border counties of Cavan and Monaghan and acts as a single point of contact for rural development supports in the area.
The area consists of a population of 109,000 inhabitants with a geographic area of 3,180 km2 and a population density of 35 persons per square km.
The co-op is a non profit making organisation with charitable status and is the primary rural development agency in operation in the area. It acts as a conduit for rural development supports, sourced from an array of EU and state programmes for the benefit of those within its catchment. Supports are provided in the form of training mentoring, research, networking and capital grant assistance.
The organisation has changed considerably from its inception as a delivery agent of the LEADER I Programme in 1991 to a continuously evolved multiple-programming agency, constantly changing to meet the increasingly diverse needs of its clients.
Under the current round resources in excess of €12million has been secured from the following programmes and funders:
