A first for Monaghan with new Pay-Per-Weight waste collection service
McElvaneys Waste and Recycling business based at Corcaghan, Co. Monaghan received capital grant assistance for purchase of the technology required for the setting up of Ireland’s first pay-per-weight household waste collection service.
The new service will provide a financial incentive for householders in rural areas to minimise the quantity of waste produced, and in turn reduce volumes going to landfill. A free recyclables collection service has also been introduced in parallel with the pay-per-weight service. Under the new service householders will be charged in accordance with the weight of waste produced and deposited in their bin.
