Introduction

Irish words are woven into everyday speech
So you think you never use irish?
You could find yourself sitting in the middle of a group of people in Cavan celebrating or commemorating some event when suddenly you hear someone near you say something like…


What is your reaction?

Do you take a lead from your friends and try to react accordingly?
You might even guess what’s being said.
Whether your knowledge of spoken Irish is elementary or you simply have forgotten you school days you may note key words in everyday use. You might find this page helpful by being alert for the words that survive in our everyday conversations

Some gaeilge learned at school and perhaps not used very much since then.

Who is this training for?
This unit is specifically aimed at you the learner.
It is also for members of ‘Ciorcal Comhrá ‘
We are a group who meet socially to converse using whatever Gaeilge we have about everyday current topics. Listening and speaking builds our capacity to use Gaeilge in our everyday lives.

If you are a visitor to Cavan or indeed live in the area we would welcome you to join us in The Farnham Arms , Main Street EVERY Wednesday at 9 p.m.

Objectives



What to expect from this training

Learners will be able to log on to
  • Read and listen to vocabulary
  • Familiarise themselves with new vocabulary
  • Practice
  • Complete quiz.
  • Repeat procedure if desired.
  • Assess their competence at using words and phrases.


Participants will include

  • People who like to engage in a good chat about general everyday topics.
  • Conversation classes in the community
  • Beginners and /or those with previous basic knowledge of Irish Language.
  • Parents of children who like to use whatever Gaeilge they have in family home situation
  • Visitors to Cavan

Equipment

  • PC or Laptop with recent common browser
  • Speakers switched on
  • Earphones if required
