The Method


METHOD

Preheat oven at Gas Mark 9, 475°F, 240°C,

Stage 1

Mash cooked potatoes and leave to cool

Stage 2

Grate raw potatoes in a food processor or with a hand grater,

Stage 3

Pour the mixture of raw potatoes into a basin and add salt

Stage 5

Add the mashed potatoes stirring with a wooden spoon

Stage 6

Add Flour; keep adding flour until it’s nice and thick

Stir well with a wooden spoon until mixture is nice and thick

Stage 8

Using 9ins cake tin grease the tin and line the bottom of the tin with greaseproof paper, Pour the mixture into the tin making sure the tin is very hot; this puts a skin on the cake

Stage 9

Prick it several times with a fork to let the air out

Make sure your oven is very hot when putting in your cake
After 15 mins turn heat down to Gas mark 6, 400F°, 200C°

Bake for 1½ and half hours until brown
Then remove from tin and leave to cool on a baking tray
