Tourism without Borders Project

Cavan Monaghan Rural Development’s ‘Tourism without Borders’ project began in February 2006 with funding from Border Action to deliver a comprehensive series of tourism training programmes for the betterment of the industry in Cavan / Monaghan and surrounding border counties. Since the projects inception this initiative has delivered numerous training programmes, workshops and study trips for the benefit of both the tourism industry and the rural dwellers alike. It has been successful in developing the capacity of many tourism businesses and introducing rural dwellers to the opportunities that exist for economic development through tourism. The project closed in August 2008.

As a result of this project 181 individuals have benefited from training, another 547 have attended workshops, seminars or other one-off-events and we have developed a successful online community of tourism providers (www.talktourism.ie) with an excess of 520 members. The majority of beneficiaries of this project have come from Cavan Monaghan, whilst we have been delighted with the networking which has occurred through this project with participant’s coming from through Northern Ireland and the border counties.

To get a better understanding of all the training initiatives (and more) that took place under the project download the Project Newsletter 2006-2008 here
